New Doodlekit Updates!
The winds of change are coming to Doodlekit! Today you get a taste of some of the great new things to come. Last night we pushed out some new updates to prep for future upgrades. This post will give you a short overview of the new tools and features we have added:

New Image Library & Album Tools

  • All images are now stored in one giant image library in the backend Admin Tool
  • Images can now be rotated, cropped & converted to black & white.
  • Images now have a tool to generate custom cropped thumbs of themselves (since thumbs have to be a perfect square).
  • You can now create albums from the image library using the same image in multiple albums.
  • Albums can now be inserted into any page or blog post.
  • Image reordering in an album is now super easy and fast.
  • New album player/slideshow
New Editor

  • Doodlekit’s old editor was tied to a third party software vendor with limited updating capabilities. The new editor is much more flexible and open to modifications as needed.
  • The new editor does not require a plug-in to be installed on a browser in order to use it.
New Admin Tool

  • The new Admin Tool interface provides us a more dynamic workspace for setting up future tools and updates.
  • It looks better  :).
New RSS Feed Addon

  • Use third party RSS feed trackers like Feed Burner to see feed statistics like views and clicks.
New Social Media Addon

  • Allows you to automatically post social network icons on your Blog post (Twitter, Facebook, Digg, etc.) that people can click on to automatically spread the word about your blog post.
  • Provides a new area for future Social Media interaction tools coming to Doodlekit.
New Page/Blog Version Control

  • The last 5 revisions of your pages and blog posts are available should you want to roll back any changes made to them.
New Blog Post Scheduling

  • You can set future dates on your blog posts and they will not be released till then.
As you can probably imagine, we are pretty busy making sure everything converted over properly and that everything is work as should be. If you find any bugs or have any issues with the new release, please contact us and let us know.

Thanks for your patience and support – we look forward to rolling out more tools for you soon!

Every time I have tried to use your "Contact Us" form today...this is what I get.

Something's Awry

For some reason I'm not able to do what you want me to. I would go back to where you came from and try again.

It makes me nervous to invest more money into additional websites where I cannot contact support. I pay for 5 websites and I have not had much of a problem until now. I am not asking for phone support, but please make sure your contact forms are working.

I have a problem with the header image uploader not working on a new free website I am testing before buying a new subscription -blatchley.doodlekit.com

Thank You,
-Clinton Woodlief

Hey Clinton,

We are looking into it now. Not sure why that is happening with the forms as we never changed anything on them. Thanks for bringing that to our attention. Did you cancel that site? The link is not working - did you maybe mistype it?

3. Clinton Woodlief  |  my website   |   Sat Dec 18, 2010 @ 04:39PM

My browser says if I use blatchley.doodlekit.com/home...it does not exist.
I get a doodlekit page error 404 and asked to login. I have tried Explorer 8, FireFox and Google Chrome. When I use the upload Header button. my image will not load.

4. Clinton Woodlief  |  my website   |   Sat Dec 18, 2010 @ 04:46PM

My mistake....Blatchley is mispelled...Blatchely. I am guessing that I will need to deleted this Site and start over?

I do have a domain by this name that I plan on redirecting to Doodlekit. However....I still have the issue wit the header image not loading?????

Ben and Heath

I spent most of yesterday testing / trying out some of the new features. And must say, I am quite impressed with the all the additional value that was added lately.

I never really used images before, but the new Image Tools is slick to add motivation to use more frequently.

The new Editor sure looks promising and will provide for adding some additional value to page and blog content.

Looking forward to all the 2011 upgrades and thank you for providing this value propostion ito functionality and support.

Regards, Vernon Chalmers

Hey Clinton - Got your email and responded back to it. We can rename your sub-domain, no need to delete all your work.

Wow, wish I could agree! I can't add links for some reason, the site is incredibly slow and seems to jump from item to item. Previous insert options are no longer available so in order to keep the site consistent I will have to change it around, although with the speed it is next to impossible to find time to do right now and without being able to post links I can't update it anyway. Very frustrating!

8. Ben Kittrell   |   Mon Dec 20, 2010 @ 03:26AM

Barrett,

Everything that was in the old editor and more should be in the new one. What options do you see that are missing?

9. Anonymous   |   Tue Dec 21, 2010 @ 12:52AM

Is there somewhere to receive help for these issues? I can no longer post a link to a pdf. When I do it nothing happens. This and the other issues mentioned will be a major issue for us. I would appreciate some info on where you stand with fixing these problems. Thanks,

Hi, I've been trying to upload my company's logo and have tried various layouts. I've taken care to change the size of the logo to fit the individual layout and the "uploading" indicator continues to spin. The URL above is to my photo page where I've uploaded the logo. If you can point me in the right direction to fix this issue that would be great. Thanks for your help.

11. Rob Pieters   |   Thu Dec 23, 2010 @ 08:16AM

Oh, I even downloaded one of your canned photos and tried to upload that photo to no avail.

12. Ben Kittrell   |   Mon Dec 27, 2010 @ 02:47AM

Rob, what web browser are you using?

13. Rob Pieters   |   Wed Dec 29, 2010 @ 09:51AM

Hi Ben, I'm using Firefox.

14. Ben Kittrell   |   Thu Dec 30, 2010 @ 02:54AM

Should be fixed now Rob. Thanks.

15. Rob Pieters   |   Thu Dec 30, 2010 @ 04:01AM

It is, Thank you Ben.

16. Ellen  |  my website   |   Thu Dec 30, 2010 @ 06:43AM

Any idea as to whether Doodlekit will have drop down menu functionality any time soon?

17. Heath  |  my website   |   Sat Jan 01, 2011 @ 04:43AM

Yep, coming with the new layouts - which we are now working hard to get out. Can't give any dates but things are moving fast. Should only be a few months.

18. Greg   |  my website   |   Thu Jan 06, 2011 @ 04:56AM

Good afternoon - I'm trying to update our website, however, the new editor is REALLY buggy. For example: Every other time I open the home page, the entire "editor" is read only - can't select anything. In addition, as I try to insert a new paragraph the editor INSISTS on making my new text a header. I've tried editing the HTML to force the proper font, color, however, the new verbiage appears in a different font and I can't make it match the existing text. Please help!!!

19. Ben   |   Thu Jan 06, 2011 @ 09:54AM

Greg,

What web browser are you using?

20. Greg  |  my website   |   Thu Jan 06, 2011 @ 10:18AM

Hi Ben,

Thanks for getting back with me. I'm using IE 8.0..also, my message may not have been entirely clear -- the editor disallows edits every other time I load the page; when I can edit, the problems I described earlier ensue.

Thanks again!

Greg

21. Ben Kittrell   |   Fri Jan 07, 2011 @ 04:51AM

Yes, this is unfortunately a bug we're having a hard time tracking down. The best option for now is to refresh the page after you save it.

22. Greg   |   Sat Jan 08, 2011 @ 03:21AM

Yes, the same is true with the image/album application. Refreshing helps, but is quite slow...Thanks for getting back with me!

23. Ben Kittrell   |   Mon Jan 10, 2011 @ 04:12PM

Should be fixed now. Let me know if you're still having troubles.

24. Catherine Bailey  |  my website   |   Tue Jan 11, 2011 @ 12:19PM

does the new image editor include an option to attach captions to my photos? Previously, I have had to create a table to separate text from photo w/caption.

25. Ben Kittrell   |   Thu Jan 13, 2011 @ 10:36AM

You can add alternate text to your image in the Image Options dialog. When you hover over the image the text will display.

Also you can add a description to the images and if you use the album viewer, by inserting an album into your page you'll see the description.

26. Sean Prusak  |  my website   |   Fri Feb 25, 2011 @ 01:56AM
