Doodlekit Shopping Cart Upgrade

Doodlekit Shopping Cart UpgradeLast night we pushed out a new release of our shopping cart that has two major new improvements.  The first improvement is that you can now use our shopping cart with Google Checkout.  You can have either Google Checkout or PayPal process your orders (or both and the customer can decide which one to use). Second, you can now add multiple options instead of just one (see image).  So now, for instance, you can ask customers to pick an item color you offer as well as an item size. You can make as many options as you wish.  That should help out our online store owner quite a bit :).

Can you please tell me if there are any costs associated to processing credit cards that are not covered in your monthly fee? Does paypal charge something additional? If so, how much? Thanks.

Paypal and Google Checkout take out a small percentage for each sale. You can go to their website for more information.

Can you give me a link to a doodlekit website that uses the shopping cart feature? I'd like to take a peek.

Is it possible to split your items into different categories with the web shop? (so that each set of products would be on a different page?)

You can create as many shops as you want - and add what products you want to each shop. You could just create a main category page that has links to different category shops.

When customers get directed from my site to pay pal they are asked to set up an account, with username and password. I would like them to just have the option to pay.

I tested the link you provided above (http://www.cvspecifics.com/shop/2091) and it seems to be working for them fine, but when directed from my site pay pal asks for too much info.
what to do?

Paypal only asks if they want a PayPal account... it doesn't require them to pay that way. There is an option to use your credit card instead.

Heath, is there a way to set up an item in the store that will be a subscription, or recurring monthly payment?

Heath,
I am having problems with inserting javascript code to have a centered popup window. After I insert the code and save the changes, I get the image that I want to be shown as the thumbnail, but there is some stray wrapping code in the text of the item and when you click the thumbnail. it opens a new page with the image in the upper left. To make sure I wasnt doing something wrong, I inserted the code into a page (http://www.blueskyjourneys.net/home/disney_promotions) I use for testing things before I publish to the open pages and it works exactly like I want it to... help?

Hi John,

Unfortunately we don't support third party code added else we would spend all our time debugging everyone's websites. All we can do is to be sure to provide you with valid clean layouts to start with (which we do). Any widget or java script you add afterwords you will need to debug yourself.

Well, that is where I am having a bit of trouble. The code works exactly as it should on every other page of my site. The only place it does not do what it is supposed to do in in the online store which leads me to believe that it is not the code that is the problem but something within the store itself.

There is nothing wrong with the store framework code - it is simple and valid HTML and CSS. More than likely it is one of the other widgets you have interfering with the one you are trying to add. This type of problem is common when you have lots of 3rd party widgets on a site. Every issues we have had like this is because of widget code stepping on each others toes.

Ok, thanks Heath. I will check further into it and see what I can figure out. I appreciate you looking twice!
