Picture Gallery Page

Wed Dec 09, 2009 @ 07:59AM

I think it was about 12 months ago I mentioned the layout of the picture gallery.
When we create a picture album (folder) it automatically locates under the existing album(s) creating one column, this causes a problem when you want to create 5 or more albums because the web page gets a lot longer than the left hand side menu section.
My original request was can we have the albums set into 2 columns, this would allow us to have 8 album folders without stretching out the page. The original reply was that was on the "things to do " list. Is this still the case or is it not a possible development.

Regards

George H

Yes, it is. We are working on the new layouts now, but it will be a while before they are released.

If you know CSS you can go into the Advanced CSS editor and try and do this yourself, but you really need to know what you are doing.

Any update on the new layouts. I want to divide my images into 10 specific albums, but one column of 10 albums just dosn,t look right on an elongated page. Need 2 columns of 5 albums to give the page "some balance".

Still working on it. The whole image library will be changing. As we start to push stuff out we will notify everyone via the blog/twitter/facebook. But it is still going to be a while.

I think I might do a blog post real quick to update everyone on what is going on.

If its still going to be a while, can I have 3 pages of picture gallery (s) which would allow me to have Landscapes- 5 albums, Architecture - 5 albums and Wildlife 5 albums.
This is because a vertical column containing of 15 albums is making the picture gallery page unsatisfactory too long. Don, think I can change to another layout.

It sounds like an easy work around for you would be to create your own album images and make them click able pointing to the album you want people to view. That way you can make a table with as many rows and columns as you want for albums.

Thanks Heath,
Have you got any instruction or tutorial on this, tried edited photo album with a 5 x 5 table layout but the save option didn,t give me confidence that i was going down the right route. Didn,t want to mess up my current albums.

What you would probably want to do is 'hide' the album page and make your own. You would use the hidden album page to create all the albums you want, but nobody would see that page. Instead you create your own page that has a table on it. In each table cell you would insert an image (probably an image of a photo album) and make it clickable to the URL of the album you want it to point to. To get that URL, just click on the album in the hidden albums page to open it, then copy the URL.

But i dont want to have a gallery with the edited images of my web inside.
