OK, so I created my Family website site. I would like for only my registered
family members to be able to make blog posts and upload family pictures.
I would consider these people to be " users ", must I manually add users
and assign passwords for them to login to the site with? This seems a bit silly not to have a registration form for the site(s)
I picked this service for my family site because many of my family members are older are not very computer literate and I wanted it to be safe and simple for them to share our family news and photos with everyone. I wanted to see how it worked and if its sheer simplicity would be something I could pay for in the future and be happy with. I may as well use a Joomla install on a free webhost such as Byethost or the like and see if that is going to work better for registering my approved users. This is a very nice service, but if we can not allow or disallow whom we want to be able to post on our blogs, it is of little use to me I am afraid. I am NOT complaining about a FREE service trial, I am simply pointing out what I think is a minor flaw. I was looking for simplicity and hoped I had found it. I can make picture and video tutorials if necessary for my older computer challenged family members and use a Joomla install if necessary, but I was really hoping not to have to do that.
So is there a way to allow for trusted others to " sign up " for our free sites
that I have inadvertently missed or misunderstood?
{ EDIT:}
( Upon further investigation, it appears as if with the FREE SITES you get only the Admin as a user and
no abilitiy to add or create any other users, hence the reason there is no registration link located at the bottom of the site or anywhere else for that matter, which makes my question above rather a moot one. )
I see that you are of the opinions that a blog need no
" registration " for posting comments or to allow for a registered " user " to create posts and uploads.
I value these abilities on my wordpress blogs and truly
wish they were available here as well. To those of you who wish to use forums, there are also many other alternatives as well which you may then link to from your Doodlekit site. Just a thought.
Thank you very much for your time in reading this question, coupled with the free service your time is much appreciated.
I will highly recommend this site to many of my friends who are newbies at this as I believe it offers a great deal for those who are just learning about creating a website. Bravo and Kudo's to Doodlekit for offering this wonderful service for free. I also thank you muchly for the opportunity to see how it works, however for my needs I believe I have to go a few steps further.
I wish I had the money to purchase my own site and domain for my family website, alas I do not and alas
Doodlekit's wonderful free service does not fit my needs. As stated earlier however, I think what your doing is great and will place a link to Doodlekit on my Joomla site when its finished! Thanks again and God Bless!
