Free Website Builder

I am new to this & having a hard time. Does anyone use iContact? I am trying to put a sign up sheet on my doodle site so people can subscribe to my email list through iContact. iContact tells me to put an HTML code in and it should work. What am I doing wrong. I don't have the free doodle acct but 1 step up. Is that the issue?
