Add-Ons and what's safe?

Tue Feb 09, 2010 @ 05:06AM

Sorry if the questions have already been asked. BUT having just started to setup on doodlekit I would like to ask 2 questions:
1.
Last week I began building my website. One of the snags I hit was an alert on the screen read: The Advanced Editor is not installed on your computer. If you don't see an auto-install option in your browser, download and install the editor manually. Download for Windows Download for Mac

So I don't know If this is a good idea or indeed if it's safe. And thought I would try asking in the forum for new web builders.

2.
Another little problem appears on the information bar. This reads:

This website wants you to install the following add-on: “XSTANDARD XHTML 1.1 WYSIWIG EDITOR” from ‘BELUS TECHNOLOGY INC’. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to install it click here…..

So How could I possibly know whether or not a website or add-on is to trusted?

Perhaps both the alerts are one and the same. So also wish to put this to the Forum as well. Though I hope the answer is straightforward, for example YES - GOOD IDEA or alternatively NO - BAD IDEA

Many thanks
John

We have worked closely with XStandard to make sure this editor is safe for our users. You have nothing to worry about.
