Downloading a form

Thu Feb 25, 2010 @ 12:40PM

Hi All,

I'm a newbie and I've uploaded some forms to my site but I have no idea how to link them to the correct page. I've tried the "edit" key and a few other moves without success. Please can someone point me in the right direction, any help would be great.

I'm not sure what you are asking about. Are you trying to paste in code from a third party site that will display forms on your website?

Hi

Sorry to be unclear, I entered the Add on's page for uploading files and uploaded some of my designed forms. What I would like to do is then link them to the correct page on my website. I've successfully uploaded the forms but when it comes to the point of then linking them to my website I'm unsure how. The Add on page mentioned an Advanced Editor but I don't know where that is. I've tried the "edit" option with no success.
Where have I gone wrong?

Forms cannot be uploaded and used like this - they require advanced coding. You will need to use the form builder that comes with Doodlekit or get the code from a third party form builder and insert it in a page on your website as a web widget.

Heath, it's odd you would answer that way, considering the description within the doodlekits builder states that .pdf files and others can be uploaded and linked for download. ?? Problem is: There are no instructions for doing that.

Hi Mark,

I think there is some confusion as to what a 'form' is vs. what a 'document' or a 'file' is. A form is a web page that has textboxes, checkboxes, dropdowns, etc. that a person fills out and submits. That data is then emailed to someone.

A .pdf, .doc, .xls, etc. are 'files' that you can upload and make links to for people to download. You can create a form 'document' that has to be printed out and then filled out manually and mailed/faxed back to you. But that is still nothing more than a file or a document.

Hi Mark,
Perhaps you can help me on this. I am trying to develop a form and have no idea how to design it with the text box, check box etc. I have all the info I want put onto a form but can not figure out how to create the form. Is there any place this is explained?
Thanks, Cynthia

Cynthia,

Have you tried the Form Builder, it's under Admin > Addons > Form Builder.

I believe you're trying to upload a pdf file and then link that file to specific words within your website. You have the first step by going to the Add-on menu and then uploading your file. Next you need to go to your website area where you want this pdf file to link to specific text or photos. Highlight the specific text or photo and in the Editor menu select the LINK icon. The LINK box opens: Make sure the Link Type is set to: URL, then click on the FILE LIBRARY button. Your uploaded pdf files should be listed in the LINK BROWSER, simply click the pdf file you want to link to your previously highlighted text or photo. Check the box to OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW. Click OK and you're done! Save the website page. To check your Link: Go to your website page as if you were a visitor and check that the link works and opens the correct file. If not, just repeat the steps above.
