Inserting Flash and Video

Wed Dec 12, 2007 @ 02:51AM

We've made it even easier to insert Flash and other Videos from sites like YouTube. These sites will give you a block of HTML to paste into your page.

1. Start by copying that HTML into your clipboard
2. Then load the editor for the page or blog post you'd like to insert the video into
3. Click the Insert Video button (read gear)
4. Paste the HTML code into the new text box and click "Insert"

The video will appear as a red gear in the editor, but will appear as expected after you save. You may need to refresh the page to see the video.

How do I insert Flash or video from my desktop, not from YouTube?

With our paid plans you can upload videos using the File Uploader Addon. Then use this HTML generator to get the HTML for the video. After that you can use the red gear icon to insert that HTML.

Hi Ben,
I followed all of your instructions above for inserting a You Tube video and it still did not work. I did get the red gear in my editor box after inserting the HTML code, but once you go to the page where the video should be displayed, it simply shows the HTML code. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

I am having trouble getting my videos bar from youtube to show up. It just says loading but never comes up. I have tried refreshing and reloading using the red gear icon but with no success. Your help would be appreciated
Thanks
Brett

Hi Ben,
I am trying to paste this link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=cvg_8M32vdg&feature=related
to my Lotte Giants sub-page of Life in Korea. Also, is there a way to insert music so that it automatically plays when you pull up our website? If so, can you do insert different songs for different pages? Thanks!
Leslie

Hi Ben,
I need some help using the html generator. It asks me to fill in the following fields:

http://servername (?)
/path/to/media.file (this is the path from my desktop, right? Do I start the path with http?)

Thanks for your help.

After you upload the file through the File Uploader, if you right click on the link, you can copy the URL. Here's an example of what it will look like.

http://garbageburrito.com/media/AA/AA/ben/downloads/8/Movie.mov

The first part is the server...

http://garbageburrito.com

and the last part is the path...

/media/AA/AA/ben/downloads/8/Movie.mov
