crashing on snow leopard?

Mon Nov 02, 2009 @ 02:57PM

I have two macs -- one with Leopard and one with Snow Leopard. When I try to edit my website on the computer with Snow Leopard, on either Firefox or Safari, the whole browser crashes every time I try to save any changes. Everything works fine on the Mac with Leopard. Is there a known incompatibility with Snow Leopard? I am even running Safari in 32 bit mode.

Hey Brian,

Yeah, when Snow Leapord came out they didn't give vendors early enough notice to deal with the major changes they made to browsers plugins. XStandard (the editor we use) is all over this and working hard to come up with a patch. Unfortunately, these types of issues will always happend as new versions of OS and browsers are released.

In the meantime, XStandard has a workaround published on their website http://www.xstandard.com/en/support/snow-leopard/

Thanks, Joe! The workaround you posted seems to be working after a little bit of testing.

Just followed the web link instruction for snow leopard. Still having problems seeing any text in the editor space, all I,ve got is the menu titles. Whats the forecast for a patch to fix this.

Hi George,

I'm not sure why you are having issues. The patch seems to work for everyone else. I'll have Ben take a look and see if he knows of anything...

Heath,
Everything back in place now, rebooted from last night and all my body text in the editor is there.
Many thanks
George H
