Remove Weblink default when linking within Doodlekit site

Sun Nov 08, 2009 @ 03:15AM

Would like to see the default "Weblink" for hyperlinks removed when linking internally within a Doodlekit site.

For example, if I'm linking to a photo gallery from a blog, I'd like to be able to have the hyperlink say "check out my photos" instead of it defaulting to weblink.

Hi Dave,

The 'web link' only occurs in Blog Comments and Forum Topics/Messages. If you post links in your Blog post or in a Forum, it will show the actual text (that's because Admins and Priviliged Users are the only ones who can make these posts). This is done on purpose to deter spammers. Spammers can register to your website or make comments without have to register at all, and they spam your website with links to their website. By changing links to 'web link', this keeps them from creating the SEO links they want, and thus they won't spam your website.

Thanks for the response. I must say I can count the number of times comments have been spammed on one hand with fingers to spare.

The more popular your website becomes, the more likely you are going to get hit my a spam attack. We just has a website last week get hit with over 300 spams in one day!

Actually, right now, we are getting ready to release a new spam protection system that will allow you to pick the level of security you want. You will probably be able to turn off the 'web link' stuff once we push this out. It will probably be after the holidays.
